These light bulbs are the prettiest bulbs for our front lamps. I love they way they look at night. They resemble a gas lamp.

These bulbs are great for older outdoor lamps with standard sized sockets. We have a number of them outside our house, but the standar old 75 watt globes look pretty funky in them. These glowescents perk the appearance of the old fixtures right up to modern standards, without having to replace the existing posts and fixtures.
We also have a few of the newer chandelier style fixtures, typically with 3 flame-shaped 25 watt candelabra bulbs. They look good, but have big downsides: 3 times more bulbs, more of a pain to open up the fixtures, and if even one of those little bulbs go out you find yourself replacing all three, to save the trouble of opening the thing up again in a few weeks to change the next one.
These bulbs look great, and throw plenty of light to cover the lawn and drive. They last a long time, and when one of them goes out it's a simple maneuver to pop in one new bulb. Then you're good for a long time. How long? Not sure exactly, but typically I don't find myself changing them for at least a couple of years. I think it's actually longer. It's been years since I've needed to buy any, and that's why I find myself with a little spare time to write a light bulb review.
In this complex and challenging world, it's nice to find even one thing that works great, doesn't cost a lot, has aesthetic value and is quick and simple to implement. Hooray for this light bulb!
