Excellent Shop LightJan 09, 2007
By G. Sirois The Verilux Shop light is an excellent choice for high quality lighting. It is not as versatile as the traditional hanging shoplight, but is not meant to compete with it. The product, with the exception of the clamp mount, is high quality and well designed. The clamp, unfortunately is rather cheap in material and strength. I would strongly recommend it for those who need high quality light in their work area.

Nice idea -- poor executionOct 22, 2008
By Cautious Shopper The Verilux Shop Light seems like a great idea -- bright, natural light for detailed shop work. The problem is that the clamp is cheap plastic and is not made right to mount on a vertical surface. Also, if you happen to hit the wire cage with something, the bulb is so delicate, it will stop working. If you do things like load shotgun shells or do crafting, it probably is OK, but for someone who REALLY uses it in a shop, you'll find it just isn't rugged enough.
Looks great, works great...if you dont need a bright light!Jan 27, 2010
By reluctant techie PROS: Looks very cool, different mounting options, quite bendy yet sturdy, white light
CONS: VERY DIM: see customer photos for a side by side comparison of this lamp less than a foot from an object in ambient room lighting. And yes, the lamp was warmed up running for hours in a 60F room. I don't know how they come up with a 150W equivalent rating but this is replacing a 60w bulb and it isn't nearly as bright.
Sad thing is I read a review with the same complaint but I thought the guy was just critical and expected too much. Well, now you have a photo to decide for yourself.
BONUS: included an extra bulb - cool!
I should send this back but I was so excited about the product quality I threw the boxes away.
I bought this version (same same?) if it makes any difference: ShopLight Deluxe Lamp
