Nice, everyday CFL'sDec 03, 2010
By B. Kim We were renovating our whole house, so we've been buying large contractor-packs of bulbs (we added almost 30 recessed lights over 3 large rooms). It's been about a month, and so-far, so good. These aren't the highest-quality bulbs out there (some of them seem just a touch brighter/dimmer than others), but I've noticed that higher-end bulbs have their own quirks and inconsistencies.
And like most CFL's, they do take a while to warm up. We use ours in our finished basement, so it's not a big deal, but I'd think twice if it were a bathroom or closet that had lots of on/off's.
Pros:
- relatively inexpensive
- decent quality (so far, let's see how they last)
- seem to provide the light quality/amount advertised
Cons:
- 1 bulb arrived DOA
- another bulb will only work in certain fixtures (might be the fixture, not the bulb)
