 Great improvement over generic.Feb 28, 2011

As you can see from my before and after picture in the gallery section this light seems to be a great improvement over the generic. The package does not claim a specific Kelvin value. Kind of expensive here though. I bought it today at Lowe's for $5.12 each before taxes.

The OttLite bulb is noticeably brighter and makes reading easier. When this bulb is compared along-side a standard CFL bulb- the difference is obvious. Once you've used the OttLite bulb, you'll want to continue using it (alone) for reading- as the strain and effort required is less than a "standard" bulb. It's worth the extra cost.

I was not expecting this. The reviews were so good for this bulb that I had high expectations, but these bulbs give everything a greenish tinge. Not like natural daylight at all. I can't use them to correctly see color. What a shame since I bought 4.

I use one of these above my finch cage and it works well to give a nice source of light. This bulb does not become hot so it's no danger to my finches. I'm more than pleased. They came quickly and were well packaged.
