Bright and energy efficientMay 14, 2007

I have used these as replacements for 50 watt R20 spotlights in track lighting. They take about two minutes from start to full brightness, but are fully as bright, and nice white color. They are almost the same overall length as an R20, but smaller diameter, so it's easier to fit them in the fixture, and they don't get very hot (just warm to touch), which I suspect is better for fixture life. I find that these are better quality than a Technical Consumer Products compact fluorescent R20 bulb I tried, also - downrated one star only on the basis of warmup time, which doesn't really bother me.
