First the good: these are nice accent lights under a counter. They also are great for a dark closet or storage cabinet, giving just the right amount of light. There are two brightness settings but the difference in light output is fairly minimal. The single button switch toggles from off to bright to dim to off. Each unit requires 3 AAA batteries. In this setting, I am glad I did not get motion-activated lights as they'd be on/off from us simply working on the counter.
The bad: the adhesive on the velcro tape won't work in all settings. Under a wooden cabinet, it wouldn't adhere and support the weight of the light. So, I glued it on with carpenter's glue which worked.... except the adhesive on the other velcro tape which was on the light itself gave out after about 10 days. My solution was to drill a small hole in the back cover and use a small flat head wood screw to hold the light firmly on the cabinet. In my opinion the manufacturer should design it with predrilled holes and screws for situations where the velcro tape will not work.

One of the lights received did not work. Luckily, I only needed 2. I am giving 3 stars because the lights are the perfect fit for my gun safe. Do not purchase these if you need a significant light source. 3 aaa batteries required for each light.
