With General Electric bulbs, the bi-pin contacts are poorly secured. I've seen several good bulbs, with easily damaged, delicate contacts, being sold. Best to check both bulb ends BEFORE purchase. Also, as I discovered, if the bulbs fail prematurely, consider replacing the ballast. That worked for me.
