"online is easier"
They last a couple of years. I have one in the laundry room, garage and a couple of halls. They throw out 20 watts of light for 4 watts of energy. I like the choice of the on/off/auto, however, I leave mine on auto and unless they receive bright light they stay on. You cannot see to read but, they are bright enough not to turn on a light. Not good for bedrooms as they are quite bright.

I do not usually write reviews. I also do not mean to down Amertac. I just removed a nightlite that I use in my hallway. An Amertac model 73068. Yes it has been there for 1 - 2 years but has been dim. I tried others from the h. depot. Usually the last few which I am not sure of the MFG. did not last long.Anyway when I removed this one I noticed my wall was all stained yellow from heat, almost like a candle smudge. The light itself is burnt a brown color on the back and side. the lens has a small white spot where it is almost melted through and yes the light was hot. I am alaways concerned of fire hazards. I should have paid more attention to this light a lot earlier but I thank God that this was caught. I will spend more money and look for better quality. These lights give you brightness for the money but I second guess the build of the device. Amertac has had other recalls. Also this light on Amazon is a 73068cc. it looks similiar to mine. I WILL TRY TO POST PICS UNDER THE PICTURE LINK FOR THIS PRODUCT. PLEASE comment on my review.

So what do you expect from a florescent light? I bought this one to be used as a night light for the cat (and myself) in a very warm garage. The LEDs I could find were not bright enough. This garage is dark enough during the daytime to allow a night-light to remain on even during the day, so needless to say this light received a very tough duty. It lasted six months. For $10 each or $20 per year, I think it serves it's purpose, economically and efficiently. I am buying my second today.
UPDATE: Pulling off 2 stars as the new one crapped out in 2 weeks! Now what?

This AmerTac 73068CC Automatic Mini Utility Fluorescent Light is much too bright as a bedroom night light to me; I don't think I can sleep with this light shining in my eyes. But it is perfect for my kitchen countertop or as a ceiling light in my garage, so that I can move around at night without having to turn on the main lights and wake up my cat. It measures 6-1/4" x 1-3/4" x 1-1/4" thick. There is an Auto-On-Off switch on the side. The light sensor is in front and at the bottom, but the interior of my house is too dim to turn the light off even in daytime. I tested the sensor with a flashlight: the diffuse light from the edge of the beam would turn the light off. I have it only for about two weeks; I can't speak for its longevity, but I can say that it is practical as well as stylish and esthetically pleasing. I am pleased with this purchase. I will post updates on its performance as time goes on.
Update: After about three weeks of use, the light dimmed significantly and started flashing. I am downgrading it from 5 to 1-Star. I do not recommend it to Amazon shoppers.
More update: A second unit did not last more than a month either. Do not buy.
Further update: A third unit did not last more than a month either. That makes 100% failure of all three units I ordered at Amazon. The quality of this prodcut is dismal.

This light is great as a nightlite as it actually lights up more than just the light. You can actually see without having your sleep disturbed.
However, it does seem to cast a few shadows; all depends on where you place the light. Also, it requires a lot of light (sun light) to shut off automatically in the auto position. I just turn it off myself each morning. I would still recommend over a the usual nightlite.
